This week's question:
When should my daughter see a gynecologist?
The American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecologists (ACOG) recommends that young women have their first visit with an Obstetrician/Gynecologist (OB/GYN) between the ages of 13 and 15.
During their first visit, most teens will be able to discuss girls development, sex and may include an EXTERNAL examination of the genitals BUT NOT an INTERNAL examination. An internal exam is recommended beginning at age 21 for healthy women, unless sexually active or an acute illness of the reproductive organs presents prior to age 21.
Below is a great link regarding your girls first OB/GYN visit.
